A Week of Tech Problems

Hello all,

So I’m not getting this post out on Wednesday like i was hoping to, this week has had some days of technical frustrations.

PC Issues

It all started with my PC shutting down on Monday and then refusing to turn back on. This was frustrating and aggravating to say the least. With no PC store within 50miles of me, buying new PC parts consists of driving to Vegas or buying and waiting on Amazon. Both having pros and cons I usually resort to Amazon and just have it shipped to me. I decided if i was going to be taking the PC apart to try and figure out the problem I would also work on re-arranging my stream room. Rearranging the room and my stream setup will help with the air flow in the stream room and hopefully help with the dreaded heat that i get in the summer here. Also changed out my mouse to a 12button Corsair Scimitar Elite that i had previously gotten for ESO but never got around to using. Also changed up from my keyboard and mouse being on top of my desk to a pull out keyboard shelf. This new setup of K&M will take some getting use to but hoping it will help with wrist pains and a more relaxed streaming position and help with longer streams.

So by Monday afternoon I had everything moved over to its new position, the PC had been taken apart and put back together. Cleaned out everything, checked connections and also got out my old PC in case i needed to salvage parts or even switch over entirely to if needed. With fingers crossed i hit the power button and the PC roared to life. I think the culprit might have been a loose connection somewhere that finally disconnected enough to disrupt the power. Since getting this PC there has been occasions where I would go to turn the PC on and nothing would happen. I would unplug the power cable, give it a minute and then plug it back in and it would power on. Always found this weird but would happen about once a month or every two months so just kinda got use to it. But I’m guessing the connection that caused Mondays problems was behind it all this time, but with me moving the case to unplug and re-plug in the power supply I’m guessing the movement helped reconnect it enough to get it to power on. This is all speculation of course, i have no idea why sometimes things just stop working.

Monday night I was happy to have a working PC again and a new streaming setup to get use to. I checked stream stuff and all was working properly after switching my mic back to the proper channel, windows updates and unplugging wires always defaults the mic to the wrong channel for some reason. Went to sleep Monday night feeling excited and confident for Tuesdays stream. Tuesday comes around and all seems to be working properly, this makes me a happy sloth. The PC turns on, everything seems to be functioning like it should, then comes stream prep time. Every day about an hour before stream i start to prep everything for the stream. Set the title, turn on my GOXLR mixer, get OBS running, turn on streamerbot and speakerbot and run my prep command for streamerbot. During this process i noticed sounds being off. Some alerts would play for me but not for stream, some alerts would play for stream but not for me. Game sounds would not come through at all even though being on the right channel. This all left me very confused and thinking i was going to need to reinstall streaming programs which can be a hassle and have unexpected consequences. I cancelled stream again which I truly hate to do but i can not go live with sounds not working properly, Audio is one of the most important aspects for a stream in my opinion.

So for those who have never had a GOXLR or other mixer similar to it what it does is splits my audio into many different channels. So i have a channel for game, a channel for music, one for chat(like discord), system, etc. Well seems one of the problems i was having is either windows or GOXLR or streamerbot decided to double up every channel i had and proceed to play everything on the wrong channel. So i spent some time going through and redoing EVERY sound command and putting it back on the proper channel. Finally after hours of messing with settings and changing channels on programs everything seemed to be up and running.

All the PC issues had me frustrated and had me missing the community. I would have loved to gone live Wednesday but had prior appointments that i couldn’t change. So i decided to have a stream on Thursday trying to make up a little for my time away with a 9-5 stream. I am writing this before stream and not sure if i will have the time to finish before its LIVE time, so it might end up coming out afterwards because there are a few more things i want to talk about in this blog post.

What else have i been up to?

As a content creator and not a very good one yet I am still trying to learn the balance of making long term content while streaming as well. I would like to put out more evergreen content, content that will be more useful over and over and not just a 1 shot stream that doesn’t have a lot of value after turning off the stream past its entertainment value. I still question the best approach for me to find that balance and if just chasing the algorithm is the approach to go. It seems that approach does work for growing channels but also means less of doing the content I find passion in and just chasing that rabbit. I am still working on becoming a better editor and with that I try to stay busy working on some type of youtube video, so in that regards i finished up and uploaded the next episode of my remnant 2 playthrough that will be going live Friday morning at its normal schedule time, but also on top of that i worked on getting my RoboCop full game playthrough w/no commentary spliced together and rendered up. All that is left for that one is to upload it to YouTube, which sadly due to the file size i can not do in time before stream. So that will have to wait till after stream just as this blog post will. It is time for me to have some breakfast so will get back to this tonight after stream.

Final Thoughts

So its 7pm and getting ready to feed the “Sloth Army Strays Colony” and figured i would put the final thoughts onto this blog and publish it before i did that. I had a fun stream today but ran out of energy at the 7hr mark sadly. With all the issues lately i have not been sleeping well but i am going to make sure to get to bed little extra early tonight… or no I have somewhere i have to run to tonight for few hours so tomorrow… yeah tomorrow i will be making sure to get some extra sleep and start to get extra sleep in prep for Mondays special stream. I am nervous over the upcoming subathon and my energy levels with the heat but if the community turns out, so will I! I’m still working on ideas for the day, especially if it goes the full 24hours. I’m not sure if it will be just gaming, or maybe throw in some lego or models but I will have more info out this weekend on that.

Well i should publish this so I can get the cats fed before I leave. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and get a little closer to the mind of Aveege. I have so much more i want to say but that will be for another blog. Much love.
